Dr. Michael Ko is a graduate of the physical therapy program at the University of Southern California. In 2016, he obtained his advanced credentialing as a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Arts (IPA), completing over 350 hours of post-graduate instruction with a rigorous week-long certification exam. His training has helped define a holistic and comprehensive approach to optimizing the patient’s journey through the rehabilitation process. He believes in focusing treatment around the driving source of a problem rather than relying on treatment to decrease symptoms. His twelve years of clinical practice has focused intently on the outpatient orthopedic setting, where his philosophy and techniques expand upon those at Joseph S. Luk Physical Therapy. While highly competent in treating patients with all conditions, he specializes in treatment of injuries resulting from grappling sports and Crossfit. To stay physically and mentally fit himself, Dr. Ko has trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the past six years and has reached blue-belt status. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, including their dog and cat.
